I've been extremely busy with work lately but made a little time yesterday to take some pics after getting almost everything set-up in the new jam room ( the wife just flat out rocks ! :D) . She gave up the bigger bedroom in our house so I could setup a home studio with some room for jammin' and recording when I have friends come over .

I just picked up a Korg T1 keyboard yesterday , and am working on running wires to new triggers on my kit , but you get the idea from the pics .

Here's some of the recording and workstation area and then some pictures of my Blastech kit in the last few pics .

WOW! Very impressive wife & room! My wife would laugh if I ever suggested that. Good for you, that's awesome!

Thanks guys ,

I'm really diggin' the way it's all coming together and the extra amount of room is great without a doubt . Yep the wife made me very happy with that , but I would have been cool either way . We're coming up on 18yrs. together next weekend , so we've been through alot together and she's always backed me up on anything ( same goes for me with her ) .

She actually suggested the room change around too which really caught me off guard . She went with me Saturday to pick up the Korg T1 keyboard ( the big one in the pics ) and when me and the guy I got it from were carrying it out of his house to load into my truck the look on her face was priceless . Her expressions when I get anything music related are so funny and she does it to make me laugh which is cool . I guess she probably knew better when I told her I'm just going to swing down and pick up a keyboard real quick  .

Working on a few expansion cards for my the Yamaha AW4416 , and still shopping for a nice 6 or 8 channel headphone amp .

Sweet set-up Sam. Looks like a great place to create some magic.

PS: You still looking for that 2nd kick? :-O

Great space, great gear and great wife. My wife backs my play also. Every time I say "this is the last thing I need", she just laughs.

it seems to me that you have internal and external triggers on your pads. Am I right? Why did you do that?

Yep I can see spending some time having some fun with this gear . Played the keys for a few hours lastnight and this one grand piano program on it sounds amazing .

Yeah I'm planning on getting a 2nd. kick rolling within the next month or so .

No doubt man , I just get the sarcastic look now ( like ok , sure whatever you say ) She's real cool about it though and hey I could be out blowing money in a bar after work with nothing to show for it .

Yeap good eye ,

My Blastech kit came originally with internal triggers in it which work really well . I have some advanced samples in my ddrum3 module that most triggers don't work 100% ( other than ddrum's own triggers ) . I was running a set of ddrum Pro triggers to be able to get more control over the more complex samples and then got a chance to try out the Blaster's external triggers that I have currently mounted on the outside of the drums . They work really well on my set-up and trigger great with my ddrum3 module without alot of tweaking . I also opens up the option of dual triggering each drum for note stacking if I want to with 2 different modules ( something I have been exploring a bit )

You give a whole new meaning to the term "Home Studio".:)
That looks great.

I noticed the dual triggers, too, and automatically thought you might be triggering from 2 modules at once!! I guess sometimes like minds... hehe. great kit. I need to figure out how to add more single input pads like your hart hammers or trigger bars.. my non-standard rack is a little difficult. I think I just need more horizontal bars, and taller verticals. And time.

Great kit, and you are like me - need to clean up the cable spaghetti.

I want to see you playing that kit. [Chants: "Drum Solo, Drum Solo"]

There are sooo many pads on your kit. Amazing. :)

Thanks guys ,

Yeah I do like to explore different ways of playing a kit . In that mindset I really don't follow any kind of set location for where I add a particular sound to a certain pad or drum . There's times where I have second Kick drum assigned to my far left 10" Blastech tom and other times it's set as a synth or brass hit sample , etc. . Just whatever kind of mood I'm in and what sounds I want to noodle with .

Speaking of which I got to spend some time exploring the T1 keyboard a little more yesterday and one word comes to mind with the sound samples ( WOW ) . The guy I got it from included about 60 sound disks too and my goodness there are some amazing sounds within Korg's sample library for this keyboard . I'm just blown away at the sound quality and the feel of the keys . I swear if I close my eyes and play it feels like playing a real piano . Just amazing .

Thanks bro ,

Yep the cable jungle has returned until I get the rest of everything wired up . I should've allready had it done but that pesky T1 has been taking a bit of my time ( lol ) . I wouldn't really say I play keys , I more dabble and noodle with them for fun . I actually wrote a pretty groovy song with the new T1 keyboard and I'll probably post it soon on the ReverbNation page I have up .

Thanks ,

It's a process that can be alot of fun along the journey if you let it be . From the looks of your pics you put up you've got quite the amount of tools to work with so far yourself though .

Wha?...are you kidding me? That kit of yours alone, is absolutely awesome!!

Not that I am ungrateful for what I have been given, but your stuff is really high-end...

I'm still in the minors...;)

If I can make some green, perhaps I can invest in a few more toys...

GAS all the way...

Everything is working out really good with getting things setup where I can have some more space and the new jam room is awesome when I have people over to jam . My friend who's a guitarist actually gets to jump around now when we get groovin' pretty good . I played around with the T1 keyboard a little and made this little jam just goofing around ( the first song on the player when clicking the link ) called " In the Sky " .

I even used midi on my ddrum3 module to access some of the drum voices in the Korg T1 keyboard with trigger pads . Kind of cool I actually played the trigger pads with my hands too ( a little sloppy in spots ) but hey not to bad . I set up a little side hand percussion triggered pad kit with a spare rack and some trigger pads I have and it worked out pretty cool .

This link below should open up a music player right into another window and play automatically .
