I guess it's my turn...

here is some pics of my current set-up. I will call this the "before" shots. I need to revamp my entire kit, to incorporate all the new components. I just ordered (2) more single zone cymbal pads with booms from Swee****er - should be here next week!

Hopefully soon, I will have some "after" pics, as well as some MP3's! ;)

Okay...looks like a fun man-space...but Kirk & Spock? Really? Please tell me that there's a joke behind it!

Ha!

No Joke...same with the masks...i just dig em'...

But I think that is more of the "animator" side of me - we always have weird crap around our stations...

i should have put up some pics of the stuff right above the monitor - talking "Warf" lunchbox, a Borg figurine, A Shrek model, Bones and Spock figures (antique 60's), a XL C3PO figure, Wolverine bobble-head, etc etc

That's just how I roll, dog....

Ha! Thanks, man!

I am really into animation and graphics, so I had that computer custom configured from Dell - a real powerhouse...

My hope is to integrate all the stuff, and once it is good to go, my bass-guitar-keyboard-drummer friend is going to come over and set us up for over the internet MIDI composing.

I cannot wait! :D

That sounds amazing, I'm sure you could even get some amazing midi sounds to use on the keyboard and drums as well.

Nice setup you got there!...one question...how do you like the DTXM12?..I'm thinking about adding one to my e-kit..:)

Nice clean space. It's great to have room to groove!

Thanks, all!

PinkLedRush - You know, to my discredit I have never fully explored "MIDI", except for a few years back when I used a Roland SPD-11 to trigger sounds from a Ensoniq keyboard...and even then, our tech guy did all the configuring. I hope to rectify that this year, and really get into the concept of MIDI, and it's applications...;)

Scorch Whammin - I have yet to set it up! I know, I know...my mates tell me I am impossible. But it's just that I need to revamp my whole kit - and yes, I plugged it in and messed with it, and it seems definitely cool,
But I am still in the process of bringing my computer back to where it was (software wise), and then completely starting from scratch as far as pad placement, etc on my kit. So I am still in process, but I hope to have a review soon??...

drumslinger50 - Thanks! I am very appreciative to have room to groove, and hopefully, once I re-organize, I will be able to utilize it more effectively! ;)

My goal is to revamp the kit, learn the ins and outs of MIDI, use the Tascam to record guitar, voice, keys, drums, etc and import those clips into Acid Pro and/or Soundforge to tweak and dither down to 16 bit, and play on the DTX M12. Playing my own patterns on the SPD-30, loops and phrases on the DTX M12, and main percussion and drums on the DTX IIs (along with MIDI triggering to keys? maybe I hope) I should be able to be "self sufficient." - not that I want total autonomy or anything...well, maybe I do, come to think of it.

Although I enjoy playing with my mates (more like brothers), there has been times that I have just been relegated to "keeping the beat" during our sessions - which is only right of course, me being "the drummer." However, I also play around with keys and guitar, and although I have no formal training, I have produces my share of "hooks"...hooks good enough to be included in, or the center of, new creative ideas.

Once I have learned these instruments and their capabilities, and have learned to incorporate them fully into the computer/Tascam process, I will have much more creative freedom to express my ideas, as well as bring more to the table when playing with my mates...at least, that is the idea.
