What's up again fellow drum heads, of course you'll find this thread or post in a few spots cuz I don' know what I'm doing!!
I have a Roland TD 10 and I really like it, I use it for fun or just personal recordings, but I have a chance to scam a Yamaha dt extreme for a sweet price but I really don't know if it's any better? which one is more flexible anyone have any experience with the Yamaha unit or should I stick with the TD 10??:D

I've owned the DTXtreme module and the TD-10exp module. I'd stay with the TD-10 for what your using it for. If you were talking about DTXtreme III module, I'd say to but it and sell the TD-10.

Yeah, I'd say it depends on which DTXtreme you're talking about. If it's the DTXtreme 3 then there's no comparison. The TD-10, while powerful, is also based on old technology. Even with the TDW-1 card, it's still very limited in comparison to the DTX3.
It also depends on what kind of drum pads you're going to use with it. Typical mesh head pads are usually meant for use with Roland modules. Yamaha's modules really do work best with Yamaha pads. If you plan to use mesh head pads with a Yamaha module then be prepared for a lot of tweaking.

Thanks for the feed back guy's, actually the only mesh head drum I have is the Yamaha kp 120 everything else are "real head" drums I did notice that I had to make a few adjustments to get the TD 10 to play "nice" with everyone especially the Yammie I had to really tweak the settings for that, the unit I was looking at is a DTXtreme IIs.
I really like the Roland, it can do everything I need and even though it's compatible with my pads there are still a few nuances that aren't quite right!
