What I would need, or need to do, to trigger sounds from my PC with my Yamaha DTXplorer kit? I own a Lexicon OMEGA audio interface that has MIDI Ins and Outs and connects to my PC via USB. I know that I would connect the midi out from my kit's module to the interface, but from that point on I am lost...I own Fruity Loops and Ableton Live and was hoping to use one of those programs to host whatever I am sampling with.

I don't own a Yammie, but it is pretty much the same for all kits.

Once you have plugged the MIDI out from your kit to the MIDI in of your OMEGA, you are sending MIDI messages when you strike a pad. Usually, those messages come in on channel 10. So first, make sure your programs are listening on channel 10. Most are set to 1.

Unlike keyboards, drum kits only send specific notes. Your manual should state what the default MIDI notes are. #38, for example, is often the snare. Now assign a sample or loop to note #38, listen on channel 10 and whack your drum. You should now hear something.
