I'm glad this portion of this forum is here. I found it hard to find a lot about Pintech stuff. (The new Pintech/HopeDrums web sites are a big step forward.) It was hard to find any reviews on any of the Pintech gear.
So far I've been happy with my Dingbat and Concertcast toms and snare. I also have the 8" kick pad. I've ordered and I'm waiting for my first Visulite cymbal to be deilvered. I'm slowly replacing my Roland TD-3KW.

Hi Michael, and welcome!
Fortunately this is a good place to find out some good info on edrum products. I've switched almost completely to Pintech. You'll find that they're support is second to none...seriously.
After you get the basic set-up that you like, start working on saving up the $ to upgrade that TD-3! ;)

I'm glad to see some other happy Pintech users.
I've been VERY impressed with the service/support from Brian and Pintech. I needed a new head on the snare as it was torn in transit, they shipped one out right away. Brian has been most helpful in picking things out or getting them hooked up and working.
A couple more cymbals and a rack (For now) and I'll be set ( for a while)...
Better module is already on order, a TD-12. I'll use a couple of the TD-3 cymbals until I can replace them. I'm looking forward to a better hi-hat. I think that' ll make a big difference.
Soon I'll be able to sell off the TD-3 as a unit (have a buyer lined up), a very nice little starter kit, by the way. Have pretty much decided to sell of my guitar, amp, distortion pedal.....that'll help pay for the rest of the stuff I need.(OK, want).

You know... if you saved up a little longer you could hold on to your guitar etc...
-just playing devils advocate. I've never sold a piece of gear (unless it was upgrading) that I didn't regret getting rid of. (like my Premire Artist Maple... In emerald green mist... with 24" bass drum..that I sold when times were rough.. how I miss thee!)

Well, for some of us the only way we can get our wives to agree to let us get the new piece of equipment is by selling off a current piece. It's the way they like to keep balance...or control...not sure which.

I know about selling stuff and then wishing I hadn't.......I'm OK if this stuff sells.
But finally, the little light went on, I'm NOT much of a guitar player, I never will be. The guitar hasn't hadn't been out of the case in a long time. It's a space, too much stuff and I could use the $$ for something else issue.
The family chief financial officer really has been very cool about my musical delusions......I'm going to get good prices for the stuff or I won't sell it. I'm not just going to dump the stuff for whatever I can get for it. So if it sells or stays, I'm Ok either way with it.

Ohhhhh, can I relate to the misery of that! I sold a nice Epiphone guitar and some very nice Toca congas back in the 90's. What a dummy! I also sold a worn-in and very comfortable pair of Doc Marten boots! Ahhh, the foolishness of youth. To get the Epiphone and Toca stuff I traded in a Premier APK drum kit in black wrap with sweet Sabian AA's!! Aaaaarrrrgh, can't believe how stupid those decisions were! :'(

Luckily for me, my "wife" is also a drummer! She'll be REALLY glad when I shut my big Irish mouth about electronic drums I want, though! Well... she told me she'd buy me an e-kit... but then she changed her mind because I kept bugging her about it! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! :D

I'm hoping the "last" two cymbals come today...hi-hat and ride, then the switch will be complete.
the Gibraltar rack came this week....The Pintech pads, cymbal are on it
The TD-12 module came this week....
I've put the TD-3 back together, hopefully it will sell soon.

Well, everything is here now, it's set up and more or less works, the hi-hat and ride need some tweaking....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

hehe...stuff always needs tweaking when you first get it! :D
What is it that the ride and hhat are (or aren't) doing that you believe needs to be tweaked?

I think I have the hi-hat working OK now. I'm a complete newbie with the module. The ride isn't triggering for the bell sound right now. I got the Dingbat to work.
Due to studying for an exam I haven't been able to devote sufficient time to my new toys.
by this time tomorrow, I'll be done with the test and have 6 years off from studying. Then I can concentrate more on the drums.

Yeah, the learning curves with these modules can be pretty steep sometimes.
Is the ride triggering anything at all when you strike the bell? I'm not familiar with the TD-12, but I believe that it has independent trigger settings for both the main and rim signals on each input. It's possible that the sensitivity and threshold settings need to be changed a little. Also check what kind of cymbal (trigger) that input is set up for.
One question, just to be sure that it's not something simple...is the cable that you're using a stereo cable? Just need to make sure! If so, it may also be prudent to try another cable that you know works, just to make sure that it's not a cable problem.

I already checked the cables, connections, tomorrow I'll work on getting the cymbals to work correctly...I fiddled with the module a little, right now, too brain dead to process new material
thanks for the hints

I ended up shipping the ride to Ron at Pintech. We talked on the phone, changed module settings but couldn't get it to work properly. Hopefully it will be back soon. It's a little disappointing....I was already switch to the new improved kit right after I finished studying for my exam.
I'm still learning, figuring things out with the TD-12. Everything else works just fine.

The ride has come back and after some futzing around it works :) The new set-up is much different than the TD-3. It's full sized, much more like a "real" kit. I added some Silentrim to the snare and toms. I got some velcro cable ties and a 3/4" X 5' split cable tubing (from Radio Shack) to try to tidy up the cables. I still end up with some loops near the module.
Maybe some day I'll add another cymbal or something as I still have a couple empty inputs.
The Visulite hi-hat and 18' 3 way ride make a big difference.

enough talk...snap some pics! ;)
so what was up with the cymbal?

The cymbal was apparently mis-wired. That was the original problem.
After getting it back, I was still having trouble getting the edge to trigger. Either the cymbal" woke-up" or I somehow managed to stumble onto the right settings.
I haven't had much luck sending photos to any of these boards, maybe its a Mac thang.
I'll see about sending some in or I can e-mail you some.
