Hey Guys,

was wondering if anyone was using 'Ez drummer of Superior 2.0 with the DTXpress 4? if so do all velocity's work correctly (from 1 to 127 for instance).

Cheers!

Andy.

Not with the Yammie module, but i have had good luck with the Trigger IO and even better luck using a TD8 as my trigger to midi.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Fig on this one. The Yamaha modules aren't exactly known to deal with midi well when it comes to external application as such.

It can be done, just not as well.

That's interesting, because the DTXMania PC game is basically promoted in Japan as a Yamaha bit. And I know several folks who use DTXMania with lower end yammie kits. And DTXMania uses MIDI for registering the hits..

thanks for the tips guys. think I'll be going with the 'trigger io' for sure. the DTXpressIV module is a good but just lacks the depth I'm looking for....three step velocity's that the DTX give just ain't enough. plus theres the freedom the IO gives to expand toms/cymbals.

cheers

Andy.

Well, you certainly wont regret using Sup2 for sure. What kind of sound card do you have, computer... I just want to make sure you have all your bases covered.

As far as the trigger i/o goes I honestly don't know much.

Let us know how it turns out. :)

Hey Axe,

Ok I will be using my laptop for the link up. its a Toshiba 'Qosmio' f20 1.73 Intel Pentium r, 2 gig mem, 128 graphics card, sound max digital audio sound card. haven't come across any probs when using midi programs so far.....but....sup 2 is a very hardware hungry program.

I do know there are external sound cards for laptops just in case my card don't work.

Cheers

Andy.

Hi Andy, I have a trigger i/o I just havent opened it yet, lol I want to because I want to try the software based modules also but I just havent had the time. I will try them using the Yammie Xtreme 3 and the trigger i/o.

I think every module you use as a trigger to midi converter will give you 0 - 127 velocity. I think what Ron is referring to is the after touch settings and the more complicated settings that arent as apparent up front.

No matter what, Good Luck with your new module, make sure to post your results and some sampl of you playing or a video. Best of luck, Tom

Thanks tom,

and all the others guys here, this really is a cool forum.

so, got io and it works like a dream, nice velocity's all pads although a snare upgrade will shortly follow (Roland) as I do prefer mesh heads on the snare.. still some fine tuning do but thats all part of the fun.

Sup 2.0.....oh my good god lol.

Hey guys! was reading up on the Alesis 'USB pro drum kit' which has a Trigger IO as bundled. wow ...for the price this is a great kit and dedicated midi.

makes you think why Yamaha and Roland haven't produced the like. now how cool would that be as top end edrums cost the earth.......midi for me all the way.

suppose there mix and match if budget is tight.....worked for me and I'm sure many others.

cheers

Andy.
