Hello!

I figured it was time to embarrass myself. I have only been playing drums for a little over a year total. although, I haven't practiced at all in the last 6mo. (Been building my kit)

Additionally, this is so bad, I want to mention that guitar is my primary. Not that I'm very good at that either :D

Anyway, this is my first take with my new DIY kit. Ignore my screw ups.

As soon as I have the cables cleaned up I'll take some pictures.

What she consists of

8, 10, 12, 13 - Custom Rack Toms
14, 16, 16 - Custom Floor Toms
13 - Snares
10 - Aux Snare
22, 22 - Bass Drums
8, 10 - Tama Mini-Tymps
4 Splashes, 5 Crashes, 4 Chinas, H-Hat, Ride & Cowbell (Paste, Wuhan, Zil K's & A's)
2 - Roland TD-20's
All on a monster Gibby Rack in a room that is way too small - lol (Anyone want to trade for a souped up TD-20 kit)

Disclaimer: Please do not consume beverages or food while listening to this drum take as when you start laughing you may choke.

Sounds good to me, I am not much into Heavy metal and double bass onslaught but it was really good. Not embarrassing at all.

Sweet! errr.. harumph.. bad at all.. just kidding.. it was good. I didn't even notice if you strayed off tempo.. sounded strong.

that bell on the ride loud! The bass drums seem a little low in the mix, but then, I like bass drums..

I am starting to record stuff - I really want to record the BFD 1.5 sounds.. but the lite product goes disabled in my GarageBand when I set it all up.. :( I am trying some workarounds. I can probably use a loopback scheme. send the out to the in... hmmmmmmmm...

I didn't really mix anything yet. I'll get a better mix eventually. :D

Thanks for listening and not making me feel like an untalented hack - lol

Hello!

I figured it was time to embarrass myself. I have only been playing drums for about a 6 months to a year and haven't practiced at all in the last 6mo. (Been building my kit)

Hmmm...six months..oh kay...I won't be posting any of my ah...talent.. it has taken me my whole life (on and off at times) to get to a level that still can't do that bass drum thing....maybe I need another pedal??

sounded pretty cool to me.

I have the Trick pedals with the bigfoot boards... I used to have the double chain driven DW5000 Accelerator. I saw a huge difference in my bass drum work when I changed over .

Not sure it matters... but, I have always just sat and tapped along to music with my hands and feet my whole life. Drove everyone in my family nuts - lol

See Pro1V on the left hand side link panel.

But, hey! Thanks for the compliment :) Made me feel good. I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever been complimented on drums actually - lol

Additionally, now that I think about it... I bought my kit in December 06' But, not for me. Started Playing it on and off about Jan 07' Then got steady with it and stopped playing it last March as I was in the middle of this build... So, I guess it's been longer than that. A little over a year actually. Plus some on and off nonsense.

How long have you been playing Ron? You bastard! - hahahahaha. **** Ron! That's pretty good (especially the double bass) for someone that hasn't played much at all. Once again just let me say "Bastard!". I've been using double kicks for years and would love to do what you just did. Bastard! Don't take these "Bastards" personal as their only meant to demean and demoralize you to never, never, ever post your playing again - hahahaha. It's novices like you that give my drumming a bad name. Well done Ron.

8, 10, 12, 13 - Custom Rack Toms, 14, 16, 16 - Custom Floor Toms, 13 - Snares, 10 - Aux Snare, 22, 22 - Bass Drums, 8, 10 - Tama Mini-Tymps, 4 Splashes, 5 Crashes, 4 Chinas, H-Hat, Ride & Cowbell (Paste, Wuhan, Zil K's & A's), 2 - Roland TD-20's, All on a monster Gibby Rack in a room that is way too small - lol (Anyone want to trade for a souped up TD-20 kit). I WISH I HAD ONE TO SEND YOU! :-O

PS: It's funny I can type bastards four times and the program decides to "star" out a word that sounds like dammnnn - hahaha

Holly Cow Ron!!!!!!
Like WildWes said..... Bastard! LOL :D
Man, if this is you just starting to play drums, please oh please don't ever give it up and keep at it, you're a natural! :)
That sounded amazing, as others have pointed out, the double bass is fantastic and everything you did was great. I can picture it now, you building a retractable roof on the house, a huge platform rising from that roof, you and the monster kit rotating in the sky above the house as you drum stuff like you just did, people passing by listening and saying, who was that masked man, he made my foot stomp! LOL :)
Excellent Ron, simple Excellent, keep it up! (er, uh the Drumming I mean! LOL) :D
Take care

Hate to say it Jack... I'll never be a drummer... or for that matter any better than I am now. I don't have the desire or drive. I just want to play. Be able to lay down some drum tracks for my music. Just enough to make programming drumlines easier.

May be all the effects that make it sound better. I can hear several places I am off time and missing... those weren't intentional. - lol

Thanks Jack. :)

Great stuff Axe!! And you said you could not play. Loved the double bass part. Now that the cat is out of the bag I have to hear more.

Nice! It might have just been me, but I could hear some "Under A Glass Moon" by Dream Theater in there. Was that intentional?

That's a great idea; I've decided what my next build will be! Just got to check with the wife and if there are any sound ordinances in the area... :D

I wouldn't say I can play Alvis. It's more, that's what I can play - lol - In other words, that's as good as it gets and I can't do it to music. I will be recording more though. I've had a bug lately to do so.

Yes, that part was my bad rendition of Under A Glass Moon, or something off Images and words anyway.

I am seriously floored by your comments.. all of you. Maybe you have to be in the same room with me to really appreciate how bad I am.

Thank you VERY much :) Now if I could just do this to music. I'm lucky if I can stay in time with a song. As soon as I do a any kind of fill I'm done - lol
