Here is some pics of my e-kit...I'm still finishing up a few things on it but thought I would post these. Here are some of the specs.:
7 piece original dtxtreme shells w/ mesh
New Yamaha e-cymbals (2X13", 1X15" 1 on the way)
Gibraltar all chrome/curved rack
Roland TD-10 exp. TDW-1
Roland CY-12H hi-hat
Yamaha hi-hat foot pedal (HH-80)
DW 9002 dbl. pedal
Roland PM-30 monitor system
I've always been a fan of the orig. DTXtreme shells/triggers and thought I would marry it up w/Roland's TD-10 and a good rack system. I am really very happy so far with the results; kit triggers beautifully and I like the feel of the Yamaha pads a little better than the TD-10 kit I play at church.
Let me know what you think.

Sweet looking kit.
How's that Roland TD-10 expanded working out with the Yamaha DTXtreme drums? Any issues to speak of?

I am also curious about the compatibility. That is a great looking kit.

Were ya tryin' to get romantic with the sepia tone? :D
So I'm figuring you have your last tom in one of the Aux inputs...will the other Aux be occupied by the cymbal that's on the way? is that why that poor tom is on the floor unused, is it being replaced by a cymbal? Seems kind of sad to see a pretty tom like that sitting on the floor. Time to make a splitter circuit!
Uhm...I see another kit in the background....you can't tease like that...you gotta show that one as well!

To answer the first two questions...I have not had any real compatibility issues to speak of. When I first bought the kit it had the orig. dtxtreme module with it; I played around with that module for a couple of weeks and was really not very happy with it. I had heard that Roland and Yamaha e-kit stuff was not compatible, but didn't really know why. Anyway to keep the story somewhat short, the church I attend has a Roland TD-10 kit (I use for playing with our praise band), so I decided to take that module home and give it a try with the Yamaha. Much to my surprise, the TD-10 module worked great with the kit with the exception of the HH-80 hi-hat foot pedal. To fix that issue (read somewhere I think) I used a stereo cable out (of pedal) and into module, but also added a 1/4" mono adapter to plug in between module and stereo cable. That fixed the issue, pedal now works perfectly, and I personnally like the feel of the Yamaha HH-80 better than any other e-hi-hat pedal out there (other than real of course).:D
All toms, bass and snare trigger great and I like the feel of these toms a little better (w/mesh) than their Roland counterparts (as I stated earlier I play both....also Yamaha's quality is much better). As far as cymbals go, the new Yamaha e-cymbals work well also (w/TD-10) and they are considerably cheaper than their Roland counterparts. Again, I like the feel of these cymbals a little better than the Roland cymbals. I'll say this in addition about the comparison between cymbals....the yamaha's are easier to get a more natural cymbal swell on (don't really know why this is, really shouldn't be a diff.)...sometimes with Roland cymbals you have to be careful how you play in to them or you'll get a crash effect rather that a swell...that's not the case with the yamaha's (you can play them more like a real cymbal). The natural feel is also true regarding the drum comparison between these and the roland's. I tune the roland heads almost to the point where the tuning lugs and heads are loose, because I do not like the tennis racket effect you get when you tune them tight (that's just not how real drums (i.e., acoustic) feel). Because the yamaha drums have 2 foam inserts under the entire playing surface of the head they do not have an unrealistic bounce effect (they just feel more natural). Hope that explains it well enough and to all the Roland players out there, please don't take offense at my comments, I like Roland kits also.

Posted these over on that other site...so thought I would post here also....I've added a couple of new cymbals (PCY-10, PCY-155) for a total of 5 and cleaned up/organized the wires a bit.....Also, might be selling the gibraltar rack, as I might have a line on a good deal on a hex rack.....:D

I'm posting a few pics of my kit with my new hex rack. Still have some work to do to get everything back up and running (i.e., re-route the wires, hook up my pcy-10 splash, etc.), and I still want to get a new module eventually (either a td20 or dtxtreme III, leaning toward the td20 as it works quite well with these drums, [dual trigger capa.]), but I'm pretty happy with my results so far. Let me know what you think.:D
OBTW...I am selling the gibraltar rack if anyone is interested.

I really like the rack so far. IMO...This is probably the best designed rack ever produced...the engineering behind it just makes sense (i.e., no metal to metal contact, tom clamps that rotate on a synthetic ball axis, hexagonal shaped tubes to prevent slipping, etc..), and it's typical Yamaha quality, which means it's built like a tank.:D

Loaded the Vex pack "Master 50" on the Rolahama today......very nice indeed....makes my TD-10 sound better.....the only downside to this upgrade.....trying to pick a fav. kit.....
OBTW.....I'm going to try and record some drumming samples in the near future. When I do I'll load them here. Also, my church praise band is going to start recording some of our sunday morning songs....may also load some of them.

OK so it's been quiet here lately....so I thought I would post a couple more pics of Rolahama/Yamaland since I got her back together with the hex and all wired up. Also have a couple pics of my Longo snare drum 6.5X14 Solid walnut with maple rings.:D

Just thought I would provide an update on my kit....of course it's now xtreme III powered and it'll soon be an 8 piece RHP kit. I was able to purchase (yesterday) another 10" RHP. My plan is to put it to the left of my hihat (ala Weckl) and either trigger a diff. snare or a 12"/14" tom......when will the GAS end....lol...hahaha:D....besides I had one more input to fill:D:D
I'll post pics of the new setup once I receive drum and get everything set up.

Oh yeah, We will need new pics for shure. Maybe a new name too since I don`t see any "Rol" or "land" on your kit anymore. Unless there is the odd cable or clamp on it somewhere. haha.

Well...I still have a Roland PM-30 monitor system....but I don't know if that qualifies as part of the kit....If it does I guess I could sell it..:)...and get a Yamaha....hahaha...I'm just kidding...OK so how bout I take requests on what to call my kit now...I was thinking of calling it DTXtreme IV...since this is what I think Yamaha should get back to...or something sim.:D...but I am willing to listen to requests:)

LOL Wes! And like everyone else I provide all that free of charge. You could give me 20 imaginary E dollars or digits for each name I think up though. I could then use these E digits to buy all sorts of imaginary edrum equipment. Oh what a great imaginary kit I could build. But what would I call it? The "Imaginator" ? hahahaha

HAHAHA Alvis, the "Imaginator", I like that one, would go good with the Fantasytor especially if you have a blow up rubber doll made up of old recycled tires named Michelynn! LOL :D
Then the air pump could be called the Pumpertrator, the action could be called the PumpHerTrator, the peak could be the WooHootrator and then, of course, the relax'O'trator.
Hmmmmm, drum names don't seem to be so important anymore, I'll be right back, gonna go check my closet to see if she was deflator or is she well hung, er, uh, on a door hook I mean! LOL :)
Take care

Thank you Alvis, I'll be able to purchase a good supply of cyber Evans EQ patches, just in case she sprains a leak or two, or three, maybe her pet porcupine will explode or something! LOL :)
Also, if I have enough left over, I'll get her a tight latex outfit in neon red, that way if she's hiding, I just have to turn on a black light to find her! ;)
Take care

I've been doing a little experimentation with heads lately on my RHP snare pad....I've tried Roland mesh, Hart mesh, Billy Blast mesh and now I've got an Evans G1 coated mylar head on it.....I've gotta tell you I like the evans G1 best....yea I know...it's a little louder than mesh...but if feels right (i.e., more like playing A's)...now if I can just convince my wife that it's not loud to play at 10 o'clock at night....:).....it's really not...just sounds like a tap..tap..tap..tap..at least that's my story!!....
