Hi Guys,
This board has been up long enough to get some feedback on it. So 'we' would appreciate very much everyone taking a few minutes and stating what you like and dislike here.

1-What skin are you using? If you are not sure of the name please go to profile/look and layout on the very first line it should say the name of the one you have chosen.

2-What do you want to see more of? Less of?

This is your place to come and hang out so is there something that you would really like to see/have on this board? Think of absolutely anything, even if it is off the wall. Who knows, maybe others have thought the same thing ;) er......um.....guess I have to mention no porn huh???!!! Yeah I know guys major turn-off :P

So let's go, we want to read anything and everything you can think of please :)

I like the idea of the various color schemes one can or cannot use, I'm using the default color scheme, nice and easy on the eyes, black text on white background, so I'm boring! hehehe.
The one thing I find a little annoying though is there are so many forums that scrolling down the long list to see where the new messages are is a bit of a pain.
Maybe less categories until the forum gets real busy? In example, have one forum for Alesis, two for Yamaha (DTXtreme IIs and DTXplorer/press 1,2,3,4) 3 for Roland (TD-20, TD-12, all others) for DIY, just one forum until more are needed. This would reduce the number of forums to scroll though. Like I say, once the site starts getting very busy, add forums as needed?
Right now we are scrolling many empty forums on the main list.
Also, get the knowledge needed to prevent spamming when it starts happening and it will happen, the Pintech forums are now pretty much dead due to spammers have taken it over, everything from ads for porn to prescription drugs, you name it, so if it wasn't for spam, that forum would be dead. So best to know how to deal with it before hand so when it happens you can kick the plan into high gear.
I do like the idea of having thumbnail of pictures attached to messages, excellent work! :)
Also, setup guidelines for members to know what can and cannot be uploaded as a attachment, and size limits.
As more members come to this forum, they will have their own idea, so far, I am very impressed with the work you have done in a short time, I've seen forums that have been around a long time being not as well laid out as this forum.
So to Tom, Michael and Debbie (our moderators/admins) congratulation on a job well done. :)
Take care

Agreed, having a variety is a great idea however I have noticed that some of the skins are not working properly. Have to keep in mind that they all have to be compatible so there may be some changes in how many there are.

The one thing I find a little annoying though is there are so many forums that scrolling down the long list to see where the new messages are is a bit of a pain.

Again agreed, however there is a way to 'close' the sections you or any member is not interested in seeing. That said you can click on the 'show unread posts since last visit' and ALL posts that you have not read will show up there.

Also, get the knowledge needed to prevent spamming when it starts happening and it will happen,

Only registered members can post so I believe that will prevent the spamming. One thing that we should look in to however, if Tom and Michael haven't already is hacking. If I am not mistaken Tom, you have regualr backups of the site?

I do like the idea of having thumbnail of pictures attached to messages, excellent work! :)

We are also working on getting some sort of music/sound library on the forum. So if anyone is BB knowledgable please feel free to advise on how to do this ;)

Also, setup guidelines for members to know what can and cannot be uploaded as a attachment, and size limits.

Thanks, ok will get cracking on some info tutorials

As more members come to this forum, they will have their own idea, so far, I am very impressed with the work you have done in a short time, I've seen forums that have been around a long time being not as well laid out as this forum.

Agreed! Granted that it is still new and as the membership grows so will the ideas of what is wanted but in the meantime the members that are here will have great ideas I am sure :)

So to Tom, Michael and Debbie (our moderators/admins) congratulation on a job well done. :)

Thanks Jack and agreed that Tom and Michael have done an awesome job!

ok you can scratch answering which theme you are using for the board. I noticed that we can tell who is using what and we are all using the Millinium, board default.

Hi to all on the forum, I'd like to see a segment for ground breaking ideas. Could we invite boffins from the major players to pitch their ideas of where e-drums are going. And what they think the e-drum market is.

Hi Bobby and welcome to the edrumforums! :)
I like your idea, would be cool to know what is on the mind of the people that shape the industry and where they are leading us to, to know that maybe they are paying attention to what we as edrummers have to say being reflected in their next product releases. We can all come up with ideas as to what our dream eKit could be, but who's listening and willing to make it happen?
Good topic Bobby.
Take care

Hey Bobby,
Welcome :) That is a great idea and wouldn't it be cool also to have some famous drummers pop in as well :D

H Bobby, Welcome to edrumforum ;D,

As far as skins go I like to change them but want them all personalized with the Edrumforum.com header. I have been studying CSS and HTML to be comfortable fiddling with the skins to get them correct. When I get it right or wrong ;D everyone will know lol.

As far as skins go, I only have one thing that I definitely want, for the month of December I want to use the Christmas skin or some Holiday type skin. Also the Halloween skin would be nice and a few others. I am with Jack on the colored skins. There are a few designs out there that we can use to change the color scheme but keep the main theme. Eventually I will commision a skin designed strictly for us through one of the SMF gurus.

Debbie, I will download the new functions and install them today at some point. I was up late last night and am a bit tired now.

Cheers :)

I also noticed the main list of directories is way to huge. I don't think we need a TD-3,6,8,10,12,20,30 forum. I think one Roland group would be fine. One Yammie group. And if we get posts from other companies, start a new group.

I think there should be more discussion of Power Jewels and their place in modern drumming.

I have been talking to a lot of movers and shakers in the edrumming world putting together FutureDrum, and let me tell you, these cats are busy. Getting them to contribute to this forum would be like pulling teeth. It would probably be better to look at this from a reporters perspective and go after interviews with these people. Then we can post the interviews and comment on them.

A good place to start would be FutureDrum. Somebody should come and do interviews. I would vounteer, but I have a feeling I will be busy that day. :)

Hey Guys,
Tom, yesterday I did lots of searching in the admin section and learned quite a bit. I thought that the coding was way more difficult than it appears, mind you I am not comfortable in making coding changes yet. Working on a website you only have yourself to worry about but changes made to a forum...if for some reason it crashes then the entire community is out. Once you start adding functions that is where you will see more things not working with all skins, from my experience.

I would wait on the music stuff, unless you want to fiddle around, it might not be exactly what you want it to be. But the other I sent you...I think everyone will be very happy LOL

Hey Michael,
The only problem with more Power Jewel discussions for me is that it will make me think of my jewel games and then I wouldn't be here LOL

Now I REALLY like your interview suggestion, that would be totally cool.

Michael, Ok we can condense this down. My original thinking that because of the collapsible feature then why not go ahead and add them all in. But I could see how it might be too big. I will cut them down this afternoon.

Debbie, I want to add those features in also and will let you know when I have installed them all. We can go from there. T

Hey Debbie, we really need a chat feature here also I think. Maybe have a senior membership so we can chat about these things live.

I will reinstall the Nothea theme. I have a few more to install also. hehe :)

Hey Tom,
Jack just mentioned something and I went searching....the only way we see this site on google is if you type exaclty edrumforum. Anything else like edrum forum or something and this site doesn't show up. Not sure how that works at all.

I only learnt this when I was in High School... but you can use the Meta tags to help people find your site better when using search engines. I forgot all about it until now... Refer to the site below or anywhere else that shows you how to use the Meta tags :)

http://www.theemiratesnetwork.com/computers/webmaster/metatag1.htm

Basically just put this tag anywhere on the index page of edrumforum.com -

<meta name="keywords" content="edrum, e-drum, drum, edrum forum, e-drum forum, edrumforum"> etc......

And then a little description to describe about this forum -

<meta name="description" content="edrumforum pwnz! We roxorz!">

Hehehe....

Cool, I'm currently studying Bachelor of Accounting, but I fear what real-business-life situations I'll be dealing with once I actually start working. I think studying and doing accounting can be very different, and am seriously thinking about attending a training program to get some gist of it. Having experience under your sleeve sure beats having a mere certificate.

Anyway I'll be asking you a lot of questions in coming days! ;D

Hey Kevin, that is awesome. I don't really like the accounting part, I like to shuffle paper and really enjoy the books up to the trial balance. Once you get a job the concept is really the same but each company has their own way of working. So as long as you get the gist of your courses you will do very well :D

kevincool87

I see, I guess I'll be fine since majority of companies train their new employees with their own way of doing things anyway.

Don't you just love it when things just add up flawlessly on trial balance? Everytime I finish a pack of statements at one go and I find that I've done it flawlessly, the happiness that I feel goes on till the rest of the day :) I think the feeling of that is really one of the things that makes us Accountants love our jobs? lol

ROFLMAO Kevin. Well you know I am OLD right?! When I started bookkeeping it was all manual so for me it is the other way around, when it balances flawlessly I always take a double take LOL

Now with these computer programs anyone can do what I like, you are doing good by going the extra steps ;)
