Hi all! :)

http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/2019/ionamahalgt.jpg

The Hihat is a Roland CY5 on a stand with the pedal modified with a magnetic switch that act as HH controller (so I can have open, closed, closing and splash sounds); the left 12" Ion cymbal is the secondary crash, Roland 12" in the centre is dual zone chockable ride and right 12" is dual zone chockable main crash. Then we have the snare (a 12" Pintech dual zone Concercast), a DIY 10" floor tom, and the two 8" Ion toms. The bass pad is a 8" Ion tom modded with a Roland mesh head and mounted on a DIY support. Lastly, the drum brain is a Yamaha DTXpress III and the monitor is a Tenson bass amplifier that is surprisingly apt to reproduce even high frequencies quite well.

Blaufeld66,

You've certainly pieced together an interesting, compact kit there. Well done.

Could you post some photos and/or an explanation of the magnetic switch hi-hat operation with your Roland CY-5 and a Yamaha module. WW

Sounds good Blaufeld66. Your magnetic switch HH controller wouldn't happen to be from the concepts over at Vdrums from this thread, would it?

Okay...I've been advised that I'm a big jerk for not saying anything nice, that I only asked about the floor tom.
So, I'll be nice now. I'm glad you finished your kit. I can only assume that you are pleased with it and proud of it...and the main thing is if you enjoy playing...assuming that you do enjoy playing it, then sweet! That's all that matters.

Now then...what's with the floor tom? :p

hmmmm I was wondering why the molding along the floor stopped. i was going to tell you to finish that up... then I realized it was a door.

As a matter of fact, we have a door knob on at least every 3rd wall in every room of our house... I try to make it a common practice :D

Alas, I do see his door, but no door knob. Maybe it's like the dukes of hazard/hazzard(sp?) there.... They just climb in and out of the window. Wonder if my wife would let me entertain that practice :D

You're right - but, doing it just as that post says doesn't worked very well for me, I had to put a 150Kohm resistor as explained in THIS post:

Really don't know why in the photo it seems weaving...
One reason must be that the silver/black plastic ring I nailed around it (to act as hit dampener) IT IS weaving (yeah, bad carpentry work, I know...), and I used a crossed double layered window net... so perhaps it's sort of optical illusion because it triggers fine...

But, thanks to anyone for their comments...
