OK...so I decided I would post some new pics of my MCA nouv. kit with the hex rack I've (slowly) been building for my acoustic kits....the reason for the build??...I've set up my BCA kit at church (to play on sundays w/ the praise band...until they buy the DTXtreme IIISP) and had to use some of the older super rack components and cymbals for that kit..:)...I'm not done with the setup at home yet (still waiting on some hex parts to come in and probably will need to buy a few cymbals)...but thought I would show my progress thus far...:)..so excuse some of the mess you see..lol!

Looking good, Scott. You must have one heck of a drum room over there! Enjoy, Alvis :)

Scott, The kit loos fabulous, I am envious that you are allowed a acooustic kit and an e kit. :)

Very pretty Scott, in a manly kind of way :-) Love the fade look too. Their not too loud for the praise band thing?

Depends on who you talk too!..hahahaha...all the band members like it that I'm playing my acoustic kit....also I've got it behind an almost enclosed drum shield...but it still is pretty loud....hahaha....if I can convince the church to spend some money, we're gonna sell the old church e-kit (td-10exp.) kit and get a DTXtreme IIISP..however that decision is currently in committee!!..lol:)...

Damn it, how did I miss this thread. Sorry I'm late to the party Scott. I have always liked the Yamaha Hex rack and it looks fantastic with those drums. Good job!

Thought I would post a few new pics of my A-kit with the new hex rack, which is a work in progress....still waiting on a few more parts..but I am slowly getting there..since the last post I decided to eliminate my snare stand and one of the 24" foot bars (near it)...in its' (24" foot bar) place I will use a curved 36" foot bar (pictured by itself) and pick up the snare basket (w/ a tom ball mount) on this bar...I'll get this done as soon as I get the tom ball mount, which hopefully won't be too long a wait (ordered a few days ago)..:)..anyway here's a few pics of it so far...:)

Pics?...you can see the ones I posted, correct??...if by pics you mean you want to see what the new foot bar come snare stand will look like...here's a pic of someone else's conversion...mine will look very similar to this...and yes I'll post pics of it also once I get everything in, hopefully this coming week...anyway here's a pic of it..:)

Well I got my tom arms in this week and finished building my hex snare/foot bar stand...here's some pics..:)...the main advantage to this setup is it free's up quite a bit of foot room between the dbl. pedals! (making setup and adjustments easier)...and of course it looks pretty cool too!

Hi Scott.
That rack addition for the snare looks pretty funky.
I noticed on the other guy's setup, he's got the snare basket directly into the vertical tube where your using a Yamaha ballmount. will that ballmount be able to handle the stress over a period of time, from the angle of the picture, looks like there would be a lot of stress put onto that ballmount as compared to just mounting it onto the vertical tube like the other guy?
Take care

Hey Jack..Yamaha has been using the ball mount for their 900 series snare stands since I can remember (late 70's)...never been an issue....the other guys snare stand basket is from an 800 series snare stand..I could use that also..just prefer the 900 series stuff..:)...the only reason I used a tom ball mount, rather than the snare's original ball mount, is the down tube (coming from snare ball mount) on my earlier 900 version snare stand is a larger dia. than the hex tube can accept (yamaha has only recently gone to a slightly smaller dia. top tube..[25mm to 22.2mm I believe]...to save on weight)

Hi Scott.
HAHA, I didn't know Yamaha used ballmounts for a snare stand, one learns something new everyday! LOL :)
Thank you for the info and it explains why your setup is the way it is! :)
Take care

Thanks!....they sound better than great!:)....I've played birch kits for most of my drumming years....but after owning/playing this kit I can understand why maple has been the wood of choice by drum builders for so long....
