Has anyone demoed the new Alesis DM6?
I am currently doing a rent to own on a Roland HD-1. It's decent but limited.
I pay 50.00 a month on it with 20% going towards ownership. There is an online music store where I could buy the new Alesis for 4 payments of 124.00 I am tempted, but I would like to know how comparable they are.

I have not demoed one, but the pads are the same as a Simmons SD7K (http://www.simmonsdrums.net/sd7k/) kit. As a matter of fact, the whole kit is very much like the SD7K. The only major difference that I can see is the drum module. The drum module on the Alesis kit is more like the Medeli DD501 (http://www.medeli.com.hk/products/dd/dd-501.html)'s drum module. The best advice I can give you is see if a local music shop has one that you can try. If you like it, get it. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Thanks. I am limited in the funds I can spend. And it will be easier to budget if I can buy a kit on an easy pay type basis. At least as far as the wife is concerned. I wish I could say which sites I am looking at for buying the kit. I can prolly get by on no more than 200.00 a month.

Welcome to the forum...Lots of good info can be found here among the crew...I might be able to help you out getting a kit together if your interested in using Dauz drums in your set....

I will go to Guitar Center and try out the Simmons SD7 to get a feel for the Alesis kit. They dont have the Alesis in the stores.

Just make sure you are trying a Simmons SD7K and not a Simmons SD7PK. The pads are different (better IMO) on the SD7PK set.
